DARK LIGHT (2010)

After two days of rest health problems back into the fold with some enthusiasm to restore the routine. To start the week I felt like dedicating a post to another of those amazing albums of last year I discovered late, enough to not include it in the list of my favorites for that reason. He came to my mind this weekend because not being a little tired I've swallowed enough TV and often put Four, heard over and over again the opening track of this album on the occasion of being the sound that makes the announcement of cuts for the publication of that chain . The electronic effects first star in a sketch series short pretty dumb, but they are enough to get caught the attraction of the listener and want to know who the target group for this, so I imagine that many people have come to this project was born in Portland (Oregon) on the basis of those curious seconds. The fourth album by this trio of girls, came after consolidating its previous record, to impose an emotional intensity and addictive compositions that can be enjoyed in one sitting. Navigating the indie-rock, electropop and synthpop dark, take a turn in his compositional style and his philosophy of creating beautiful landscapes sonic expansion while dark and melancholy found in higher doses. Interesting polyphony and an attitude reminiscent of the old bands Riot Grrls movement essentially make this 'Dark Light', an album very attractive, decked out with the initial parts "Barnacle", already in its first ten, fifteen or twenty seconds of hearing it will recognize on television, if you speak of you who like to spend time in front of the boob if you get something decent, as they make a server, and with its heady pace to make us engage their personal ideology, the more sober "Figure 8", with dyes electroclash eighties and they intermarry with groups such as Ladytron, Le Tigre or Client, the impressive "Boxer", perhaps the best song on the album, or at least my favorite, a delight in its chorus with a fascinating interior light would not you doubt that on top of last year, the noventera "Do you want it", where the singer brings fore he power of his vocal cords and all its emotional depth while accompanying a syncopated drumbeat the bright frailty of "Peppermint," which begins with a series of synthesized loops that immediately bring to mind the principle of "Out of control" by The Chemical Brothers, and continued his way without looking back in search of an identity and consistent, the desperate "Shepherd of stray hearts", a new journey back, this time relying on common elements of Mike Oldfield's creations, especially in its early 'Islands', and completing a sensational progression fear to hope, and the roundness indietronica of "Cedar Falls", huge track status closing, to convene a meeting formidable ingredients to serve a dessert topped with luxury that many flavors on the palate are satisfied auditory receptor. Lovers is a group headed by the talented Carolyn Berk, a fighter who grew up in suburban Boston (Massachusetts), before moving to Athens (Georgia) and fall in love with REM and B-52's while beginning to plan a new flight from the disappointment meant for her to see as the double standard of Christian villagers in the area judged her lesbianism. Finally arrived today is their destiny and formed with Emily King and Ferris Kerby, great friends of hers, a group with which to dream that he can live on what you like as they once his childhood idols female , Patti Smith and Nina Simone.
